Global reports

Report templates have three visibility scopes. Two of them exist inside a tenant — private (owned by one user) and public (shared with the tenant's report users). The third is operator-only: a global report belongs to no tenant and no owner, and is visible in every tenant. Global reports are how you publish a standard report — a monthly usage summary, a compliance extract — to all your tenants at once.

The general reporting workflow (layout, filters, charts, running, exporting) is the same as for any report and is documented in the User Guide Reports chapter; this page covers only the operator-specific parts.

Creating a global report

When a cross-tenant operator clicks Create under Reports, the create dialog asks for the target scope before anything else:

  • Visibility — Global (visible to all tenants) or Tenant (visible to a single tenant).
  • Tenant — the target tenant, shown when "Tenant" is selected.

Choosing Global creates the tenantless, ownerless global report; choosing Tenant drops you into that tenant's normal report form, where the in-tenant Public/Private visibility and Owner fields apply. The same select-tenant dialog appears when cloning or importing a report template.

Creating a global report requires a system-tenant administrator with tenant visibility and the public-reports add permission. Without the global-report permission, the report is created as a private report in the System tenant instead.

What is different about global reports

  • No schedule — global reports cannot be scheduled or emailed on a schedule; only private (owned) reports can. To schedule a standard report for one tenant, clone the global template into that tenant as a private report with an owner.
  • No owner controls — the Owner and in-tenant Visibility fields are hidden; there is nothing to set.
  • Results are per-runner — as with public reports, the data a run returns is scoped by the permissions of the user who runs it. A tenant administrator running your global report sees only their organization's data; you running it from the System tenant see everything your role allows.
  • Report-type availability still applies — operator-only types (for example the tenant reports) never become visible to tenant users just because the template is global; tenants only see global reports of types their access level permits.
