How conversations arrive

MiaRec analyzes conversations regardless of how they were captured. Recording by the MiaRec recorder is one capture method among several — conversations can also be pulled from your telephony platform's own recording service, imported from files, or uploaded manually. This chapter covers the parts of capture that administrators manage.

For what a conversation is and what happens to it after capture, see Conversations in the Overview & Key Concepts guide.

Capture methods

Method How it works Your role
Recording The MiaRec recorder captures conversations on your telephony platform as they happen; they appear in the portal in near real time Per-user recording settings; the recorder itself is provider-managed
Telephony platform sync An integration pulls recordings from your platform's API (for example, Twilio or Webex) on a schedule Connect and manage integrations
Manual upload Users upload audio files through the portal Enablement and limits — see Uploading recordings
Bulk file import Historical recordings are imported from a file archive in bulk Performed by your service provider on request

Managed by your service provider

The recording infrastructure — recorders, capture interfaces, and the connection to your telephony platform — is configured by your service provider. If conversations are not being captured at all, contact your provider; this guide covers only the settings exposed to your organization's administrators.

Whatever the capture method, every new conversation enters the same processing pipeline: it is transcribed and analyzed automatically. See Conversation Analytics administration.
